CHENNAI: During the ongoing construction work by Chennai Metro Rail Ltd in Tondiarpet near Vaidyanathan Street, a main Metro Water pipeline carrying drinking water was damaged on Wednesday.
After the incident which happened around 11 am was brought to the notice by Metro Rail workers and residents to Metro Water officials in the locality, the damage was rectified.
Repair work was carried out by Metro Water officials and water connection was restored by 12 am. “Once we were notified about the issue, we immediately repaired the damaged pipe which was of 150 mm diameter,” said an official.
