CHENNAI: Within a span of six hours, five cases of theft and robbery have been reported from various places in the city. The miscreants have targeted high-end mobile phones and other gadgets. Starting at 11 pm on Thursday, the looting spree continued till 5 am on Friday. In all, four mobiles and a laptop were stolen.

Two unknown men snatched the mobile phone from A Keerthi, who works in a private pharmacy in Jafferkhanpet. She was returning home on her bicycle and speaking to the friend when the incident happened.
Vinodh Kumar lost laptop worth `40,000, which was kept in his car parked on the 11th Avenue Road. Miscreants have broken the rear glass of the car and made away with the laptop. Both incidents happened around 11 pm on Thursday in the Ashok Nagar police limits and cases were registered.

In KK Nagar police limits, a mobile phone was stolen at knife-point from S Jayakumar, an employee with a private company. The robbery happened when Jayakumar was walking alone on RK Shanmugam Salai around 11 pm on Thursday, said a police officer.  Similarly, Gothandapani, an employee at Express Avenue Mall, lost his mobile and wallet when two masked men threatened him with a knife on Thiruveethi Amman Koil Street in Koyambedu. The CMBT police have registered a case.

In the wee hours on Friday, two bike-borne men made away with the mobile phone of M Shafiullah, an autorickshaw driver. He was sleeping in his auto near Woodlands Theatre in Royapettah. The Anna Salai police have registered a case.
