CHENNAI: Railway Minister Piyush Goyal inspected coach manufacturing works at the Integral Coach Factory on Thursday.

During the surprise visit, the Minister inspected the LHB sheds and harness shop 39, and inquired about the process involved in the coach manufacturing.

Then, he inspected the newly manufactured coaches for Kolkota Metro Rail and three-phase Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU)  at line 16 and 17 and despatch shed.

At the shell division of the ICF on the New Avadi Road, he inspected the spring shop and also interacted with the Mahila Shakthi Heavy Fabrication team in A Shed and had an overview of the works.

The Railway Minister held a brief meeting with representatives of ICF employees in the Lake View park and inquired about the working culture of the ICF at various levels.

“The Minister assured to extend the maximum support from the Railway Board to increase the coach production capacity of the ICF,” said official sources.

After spending about 90 minutes, the Minister left for New Delhi around 6.30 pm. ICF General Manager Sudhanshu Mani and other officials accompanied the Minister.
