CHENNAI: T Nagar district police on Sunday evening met residents of T Nagar and Mambalam to hear their grievances relating to crimes in their areas. “Though criminal activities in these areas are less, we asked residents to be more careful. Every time before getting into a rental cab or autorickshaw, we asked them to take pictures of the drivers id cards and to inform people they know where they are headed to,” said Assistant Commissioner of T Nagar, Selvam.

“Residents were asked to monitor CCTV cameras of their apartments regularly and to update the equipment with more modern cameras for better clarity,” said Inspector, Law and Order, Mambalam,  Siva Subramaniam.

The inspector also said people were asked to inform police immediately about movement of suspicious vehicles in their areas.

“Some people wanted police to station patrol vehicles near the railway crossing since some men were seen drinking during late night.

Residents raised concern about debris being dumped in empty plots and street lights not burning for months together.” Issues regarding the civic body will be taken up with the authorities concerned, he said.
