Commemoration Day: Tamil Nadu cop martyrs remembered

CHENNAI: Director General of Police T K Rajendran paid homage to CRPF jawans who died in Chinese firing in 1959, on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day at his office on Sunday.

A press release said the department also remembered 414 police personnel who laid down their lives while on duty across the country from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018. 

City police commissioner A K Viswanathan on Saturday visited inspector Periyapandi’s house to pay floral tributes. Periyapandi who was attached to Maduravoyal police station was allegedly shot dead in Rajasthan where he had gone to nab two suspects on December 13, 2017. The commissioner met the family of the inspector and interacted with the members.

414 police personnel who laid down their lives while on duty across the country from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018, were paid homage to in a press release issued by the department. Chennai police commissioner A K Viswanathan on Saturday visited inspector Periyapandi’s house to pay floral tributes.
