CHENNAI: The second edition of Madras Icon Awards was organised by Madras Events on Thursday with much fanfare at Abu Sarovar Portico in Kilpauk. Actors, make-up artists and fashion designers were awarded for their work in respective fields.
Celebrity designer and fashion event director Vicky Kapoor, and a few other makeup artists also showcased their designs for the upcoming festive season. Actress Yashika Aannand received an award for her performance in Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuthu (most entertaining film award).
“Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuthu was a big break for me as my role in the film stood apart from others. Apart from Odavum Mudiyathu Oliyavum Mudiyathu, I have signed a couple of femaleoriented films,” she said. Sakshi Agarwal, known for her roles in Raja Rani and Ka Ka Ka Po, won an award for her performance in Kaala. Speaking about working with Rajinikanth, she said everybody knows that Rajini sir is a legend, however, experiencing it and watching him work is a delight in itself.
Actress Meera Mithun, and Lakshmi- fame Sam Paul were the other winners. This award was started to appreciate and encourage newcomers in the film and fashion industry.
