Chennai police book 15 youths for over-speeding, seize nine bikes

CHENNAI: The city police continued to keep an eye on over-speeding motorcycles on city roads with special teams seizing about nine bikes and arresting 15 youngsters along the RK Mutt Road on Sunday night.

FIRs have also been filed under various IPC sections and under the Motor Vehicle Act, a senior police officer said.Vehicle checks were conducted on RK Mutt Road, Cathedral Road, Sterling Road and Anna Salai. The police officer said, “Most of the bikes were driven by college students most of whom fall in 19-23 age group.”

The arrested have been identified as R Parveesh, 19 , K Vijay, 20, K Mohan Raj, 23, F Mohammed Abdula Salim, 19, R Venkatesan, 21, A Mohammed Altar, 20, S Agelan, 23, S Joseph, 23, K Dinesh, 19, U Kalfath, 20, S Surendar, 20, V Santhosh,19, S Balaji,19, Y Basheed, 20 and R Mukesh, 19.Police have launched a search for three more - Sushil, Vignesh and Selvam.The officer further said most of the bikes seized are 150 cc and above. All bikes would be produced before the court.
