On court direction, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police registered a case against a news anchor and a blogger for dragging the private life of Sun TV news reader and lawyer, Mahalakshmi, who happened to be the sister-in-law of the news anchor, in sequel to the dowry harassment complaint lodged by the former.

Puthiya Thalaimurai news anchor Panimalar had earlier lodged a complaint at the Aminjikarai police station after the family members including her husband, Sathish Narayanan, sister-in-law Mahalakshmi, and mother-in-law, reportedly assaulted her on May 17, at Ampa Skywalk Mall. Meanwhile, Mahalakshmi has moved the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, to direct the CCB to register a case against Panimalar and Savukku Shankar alias Achimuthu Shankar who was running ‘’, a blogging site through which he had published a series of articles allegedly portraying Mahalakshmi having an affair with one Ruban, a fellow advocate. A court direction to register a case was also issued.

She alleged  that the series of articles involving her in were churned with false information passed on to Shankar by Panimalar. She also charged that Panimalar had shared the links to the article on her facebook page, and had also given pictures of the family members. She said there were ample opportunities for the accused to tamper with the evidence since all the documents are in electronic form.

The case was registered under various sections of IPC and provision of the Tamil Nadu Women Harassment Act.
