Stating that the modi operandi employed in the recent killings of leaders of Hindu organisations in Tamil Nadu had striking similarities, the BJP on Friday said a “terror” angle could not be ruled out.

“There is a clear case of a possible fundamentalist or terror angle to the attacks. This has to be thoroughly investigated by police. We will definitely take this up in the Parliament with this perspective,” said BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.

Addressing a press conference at Kamalalayam, Javadekar, who was part of the three-member fact-finding team formed by party president Rajnath Singh to look into the attacks, said the pattern involved in the killings indicated that they were target killings. The investigation should endeavour to unravel the larger conspiracy behind the incidents, he added.

Javadekar said senior leader L K Advani would visit Salem on August 1 to meet the family of the slain party State general secretary ‘Auditor’ Ramesh. He will also address a public meeting there.

Asked about the contents of the report prepared by the fact-finding team, which included party leaders Nirmala Seetharaman and Ananth Kumar Hegde, he said it would be submitted to the party president and then released to the public. “The data that we collected will also be shared with police,” he said.
