NEW DELHI: Amidst high demands to trace missing research student Najeeb Ahmed the Jawaharlal Nehru University administration on Thursday clarified that the varsity has no role in the chain of events happening in and around the campus.

Varsity administration has stated that it is in constant touch with the investigating agencies and is providing all possible help to them in locating Najeeb. He has been missing since October 16 from his hostel.

JNU had also constituted Proctorial committee to do thorough investigation in the entire incident.

“The administration has stated that few students are hampering the daily routine of the varsity and they left with no option but to take disciplinary action against them. Certain groups of students have been constantly spreading false information and making unfounded allegations against the administration,” the administration stated.

“Due to the persistent defiance of protestors the academic atmosphere and the administrative functioning of the university have been adversely affected. JNU student unit too remain uncooperative during the entire series of events,” the official note states.
