NEW DELHI: Two class 12 students of a Delhi government school in Nangloi, Sultanpuri allegedly stabbed their teacher to death in front of their classmates, after they were denied permission to appear for an examination due to lack of attendance. The duo has been arrested.

School authorities said Mukesh, a Hindi teacher, was attacked with a knife in the classroom after the examination. Kumar was immediately rushed to the Balaji Action Hospital, but the doctors could not save him.

“Two students attacked Hindi teacher Mukesh with a knife after their names were struck off from the examination list due to lack of attendance. The school staff brought him to the Balaji Hospital. The hospital authorities asked to deposit money first before treatment,” said Sumit, who works at the same school. Gulab Sharma, another staffer described the two students as “criminal-types”, who had failed thrice.

“Their names had been stuck off, but were then reinstated in the list due to pressure from their parents and principal. Two of the students had earlier also threatened the teacher. So, the teacher requested the principal to reinstate them,” he said.

He added that the Hindi teacher was stabbed from the back by the duo while he exited the classroom.

Sharma alleged that the hospital delayed giving treatment to Mukesh, saying that the bills be paid first.

“He is not with us anymore. Mukesh was their class teacher. Two-three students were adult as well. Their names were reinstated but they were not allowed to sit for the examination yesterday. The police said they are trying to nab the accused but they are still at large,” he added.
