Under-trial injured in blade attack inside Tihar jail

A murder accused was injured in an alleged blade attack inside the high-security Tihar prison, officials said today.

NEW DELHI: A murder accused was injured in an alleged blade attack inside the high-security Tihar prison, officials said today.

Police said a case has been registered on a statement by the complaint Jitender and investigation is on.

"Jitender, an under-trial in a case of murder lodged in jail no 8 was found with blade injury on his face today. He alleged that he was attacked by his fellow inmates with whom he had some dispute," said a senior jail official.

He was taken to DDU Hospital after first aid at jail dispensary. Police was informed and a case was registered on his statement, at Hari Nagar police station, said the official.

The accused have been identified as Mukesh and Jagdish.

An internal enquiry is on and action will be taken against them as per law, added the official.
