Delhi Police play good cop, bad cop on alleged miscreant

NEW DELHI: A Delhi Police team here fired several shots in retaliation to an attack by two miscreants today, leaving one of them wounded, even as his partner managed to escape.

And the policemen then rushed the injured miscreant to a hospital where they not only took his care but also donated blood to him.

The episode unfolded around 3.50 AM in Rohini sector 9 when a few residents of Ahinsa Vihar made a police control room call to inform about two suspicious-looking men roaming in the area.

Within no time, a police team arrived at the spot and saw the duo trying to escape by scaling a boundary wall, a police official said.

Perturbed with the sight of policemen, one of the men, who was later identified as Nitin alias Sonu (24), fired at the team and scaled the boundary wall along with his partner, who was identified as Salman.

However, they were caught by a police team comprising assistant sub-inspector Ramashray Singh, head constable Rajesh Kumar and constable Ashok.

Sonu again opened fire at them and Ashok and Ramashray fired at him in response, the official said, adding five bullets hit Sonu, while Salman managed to give police the slip.

The two constables held Sonu and rushed him to a nearby hospital. "Not only that, they (the constables) even donated blood to him," said the senior police officer.

While Sonu is undergoing treatment at the hospital, police are searching for his absconding associate, the official said.
