Man throws acid on female friend in Delhi

The accused, Ravi Kumar, later went to the police station and told cops that he threw diluted acid (which is used to clean toilet) on the 20-year-old girl, said a senior police officer.

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old jilted lover forced a girl to drink acid after she refused to marry him. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in South-east Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area. The victim admitted to AIIMS hospital and under Doctors have claimed that acid has damaged her throat and other internal organs. Delhi Police after registering a case has arrested the accused, identified as Ravi. According to the police, it is a matter of one sided love as Ravi wanted the victim to marry him but when she refused. Later, to take revenge, he planned to attack her with acid. Interestingly, after committing the crime, accused went to the police station and confessed.

“On Tuesday 10.25 am  a PCR call  was received regarding a man who thrown acid on a girl. Victim who was resident of south-east Delhi Sangam Vihar was taken to AIIMS hospital by the police team.  Later, accused identified as Ravi Kumar came to the police station and told that he has thrown diluted acid (which is used to clean toilet) on victim. He has some suspicion that she is talking  to some other boy,” DCP south east Romil Baniya said.

According to the police, the girl is still in the hospital and suffered some burn injuries on her body. Cops have also claimed that victim has suffered injuries on her throat and face. “Accused was upset after victim’s family fixed her marriage to someone else. He attacked the victim outside her house,” a police official said.
