IIMC gets record number of applications

According to officials a total of 6624 applications were received this year, breaking the previous record of 4733 applications.

NEW DELHI:  Country’s premier institute for media studies the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has received a record number of applications for the current academic session.  

According to officials a total of 6624 applications were received this year, breaking the previous record of 4733 applications.

“We have broken all the previous records in the number of applications for admission to various courses. We are enthused by the response despite the down turn in the industry and large proliferation of media schools. This is an indicator of IIMC’s growing popularity among media aspirants”, KG Suresh the Director General at IIMC said.

Recently in the news for inviting the controversial Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bastar, SRP Kalluri for commencement of the institutes to conduct a Havan or Yagna (ritual) before commencing college  seminar.

Around 2,214 candidates have applied for Advertising & Public Relations course followed by 1848 for Radio & Television the reason according to Suresh is the introduction of new courses and upgradation of existing courses.

The entrance examination for Urdu, Malayalam, Marathi and Odia Journalism courses would be held on May 27 while the examination for the other courses would be held a day later.
