NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court today sought response of the Centre on a PIL alleging that unauthorised constructions were continuing in several south Delhi colonies despite judicial orders prohibiting it.

Apart from the central government, a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar also issued notice to the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), the Delhi Jal Board, DDA and the police seeking their reply to the plea which suggested imposing huge fines on the builders and owners of unauthorisedly constructed buildings.

The petition by an NGO, Paardarshita Public Welfare Foundation, has alleged that unauthorised constructions were being carried out at Saiyadulajaib, Freedom Fighter Colony, Paryavaran Complex and Neb Sarai areas of south Delhi in violation of high court's orders in November last year.

The NGO, represented by its general secretary H D Nijhawan, urged the bench to order demolition of the unauthorisedly built structures.

Apart from that it also sought directions to the Delhi Jal Board and discom BSES Rajdhani to disconnect the water and electricity connections they had given to the violators.
