3,969 molestation cases registered during last year in Delhi: NGO report

NEW DELHI: The posh south district reported the maximum number of incidents of women molestation in the national capital last year, according to a white paper released by an NGO today.

Praja Foundation, a non-governmental civic watchdog, in its white paper on the "Status of Crime and Policing in Delhi", said that out of 3,969 molestation cases registered last year, 590 were reported from the south district.

The data shared in the report was procured through Right to Information (RTI), it said.

In 2015, 485 cases of molestation were reported in the south district. In 2014, the number was 862.

The number of molestation cases increased in the central, outer, New Delhi, north, south, southeast districts last year as compared to 2015.

In 2016, 11 such cases were registered at the Delhi Airport as against 10 in 2015, according to the white paper.
