NEW DELHI: Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Union minister Harsh Vardhan today inaugurated a reprocessor machine which will convert flowers and organic products used in temples at Nigambodh Ghat premises into 'havan' materials.

About using the machine in crematorium premises, he said this will be the beginning of a new environment-friendly practice.

"This bio-waste re-processing plant converts used flowers & leaves into compost and Havan material and is a new experiment in the area of environmental protection #SwachhBharat," the Union environment minister tweeted.

"In order to set up this machine, we provided Rs 12,76,974 from our MPLADS fund. There's a battery vehicle for collecting used flowers and leaves, which I inaugurated driving myself.

"This waste re-processing technology will prove to be a good contribution in the #SwachhBharat Mission of our PM @NarendraModi. I hope this shall be replicated in other cities of India as well," he said in a series of tweets.
