HYDERABAD: A bomb threat call to Secunderabad railway station on Wednesday afternoon kept police on tenterhooks for two hours. The prank call was made from Bapatla in Guntur district.

According to the police, the Cyberabad control room received the threat call at around 3.10 pm on Wednesday.

The caller, who spoke in Telugu, told the receiver that a bomb was planted in the Secunderabad railway station and it would explode within an hour.

The Cyberabad police alerted their city counterparts who rushed to the railway station and launched a search for possible explosives.

Local police, bomb disposal squads and the railway police scoured the entire premises and even the train in search of explosives but found nothing. The searches went on till 5 pm after which the call was declared as a prank. According to sources, the call was made from a coin box in Bapatla. Police say a man named Srinivas Reddy made the call and might have wanted to delay a train bound for Guntur.
