HYDERABAD:  The Smiles Summer Camp for children aged three  to 19 years concluded yesterday in a dance and music programme at Ravindra Bharathi Auditorium. The summer camp had children participating in five workshops and picnics, 15 field trips and parties plus the experience of flying a robotic airplane. About 170 children had attended the camp held at Smiles, the Pre-School at Himayathnagar wherein they took part in innovative theme based learning activities, apart from the usual dance, music, drawing, art and craft. During the camp the kids were introduced to several disciplines such as Civil Engineering by visiting organizations that design and make building models; Aeronautics by visiting aero field near Chilkur, where children had the experience of flying a robotic airplane.

The valedictory of the summer camp saw different styles of dance and music performances by the children, and display of gymnastics by the children. Smiles Divas, traditional fashion show got both the children and the parents excited alike in a traditional fashion show held on the occasion with children attired in traditional dress walking the ramp. The kids not only donned the traditional attire but also gave a brief description of that they wore namely Pochampally saree, Banarasi Saree, Silk saree and so on. Cuckoo’s Voice, a music presentation by tiny tots had them singing and jumping on stage. Beach Dance, a cute dance presentation had tiny tots dressed in beachwear donning goggles dancing away happily. Tiny tots performed Ranbir Raja’s naach, a street dance by the boys on the song ‘Tai Tai Phiss’ from the film Chillar Party.

Besides performing gymnastics, the kids also performed karate stunts. The camp was held under the supervision of Sangeetha Rajesh, principal of the pre-school.
