UoH appeal against student union president election turns dud

The appeal against the appointment of the new student union president at University of Hdyerabad was declared a non-issue by the vice chancellor in a letter released on Wednesday night. The appeal by the representatives of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the university alleged that the newly elected ‘president’ was ineligible for the post as he had failed to clear a paper during the course of his study.

Calling the said academic backlog an ‘oversight,’ the vice chancellor Dr. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy said, “It is not as if the student had not passed the examination. There was a clerical error in coveying his marks and that has been resolved. No action will be taken in this regard.”

The students’ union president Amjad Basha is a student of M.A Urdu and was elected for the post at the end of October and represents the Students Federation of India (SFI). The ABVP had complained that multiple votes were deemed invalid during the election process in which 3,313 students cast their votes to choose union representatives.
