‘Public health needs an all-of-society approach’

“In the society there are large populations of people in the age group of 30-70 years who invariably suffer from different types of illness in India. This is quite high when compared to other Asian countries and America,” said Prof. K. Srinath Reddy, President of Public Health Foundation of India.

He further added that the prominent among the illness are high blood pressure, diabetes and heart diseases arising from stress and high pressure jobs and life-style; hence people must take good care of their health for a healthy and long life.

Speaking to a packed audience of students, faculty and staff, Prof. Reddy delivered a lecture titled “Public Health Needs An ‘All of Society’ Approach” at the University of Hyderabad on Monday.  Prof. Reddy said that health is the most important aspect of the human life.

He emphasised that the government should take necessary steps to protect the health of the people in the state because by 2030, major health problems relating to stress, road accidents, cancer and heart diseases will affect the society.
