Maturity beyond years is what sets apart young author, Lal Krishna Mitta from his counterparts. All of 22 years, the B.Tech graduate from Usha Raman College of Engineering and Technology has come out with his first book, Mirror -- a psychological thriller.
The book is about a boy who is so afraid of the real world that he creates a dream world for himself to escape reality. The twist in the tale is a chance meeting with a monk who is also a gambler and how it turns his world around.
Speaking about the concept woven around philosophy, Krishna says, “I was always interested in philosophy from childhood. I was never an avid reader but I wanted to explore the subject in depth. Once I set about writing the book, there was no stopping and I finished writing it in 20 days.”
The philosophy of the book revolves around the author’s experiments and experiences. He observes that after his hope of pursuing higher studies in Germany was rejected, he directed his energy into writing a book. He also visited Bodh Gaya and Osho Ashram and spoke to the monks there to see whether he was on the right track.
“The monks were surprised by my knowledge about life’s truth as it was what they preach to the devotees. In fact they said that to have such kind of a knowledge at such young age is admirable. I knew, then, I was in the right direction,” adds the 22 year-old. He adds that his sister encouraged him to pen his thoughts in the book.
When asked whether his parents supported his decision to turn to full time writing, he says, “I worked with a software company for a month but I really wanted to pursue writing and my parents have fortunately supported me through every decision in my life. Whatever mistakes I make, are mine.”
Krishna is currently working on a book on love stories inspired by the relationship issues of his friends. “Many of my friends are in relationships and I feel that for a relationship to blossom there should be a little mystery around the other person to keep the interest intact. Excessive understanding between two partners is not good. I wanted to explore this angle in my next book titled ‘Searching and Waiting for Love’.”
