In a setback to senior IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon, the AP High Court on Friday directed the Director General of Police to issue instructions for filing a chargesheet within a week in a case registered against her and five other accused at Begumpet police station in 2003.

Justice A Ramalingeswara Rao while allowing a writ petition by G Haritha, a house wife, seeking directions to the police authorities to file a chargesheet in the case, has directed the DGP and Hyderabad city police commissioner to issue orders for filing a chargesheet within one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order since investigation was completed in 2009 itself.

The petitioner submitted that in 2002 Tejdeep Kaur, with a view to help a friend, along with others had barged into her  house, assaulted and abused her. Later, a complaint against the IPS officer and five other accused was lodged at the Begumpet police station. However, local police officers were pressurizing her to get the case withdrawn against Tejdeep, the petitioner said. She said that she has approached the high court with a request to suspend the accused officer.
