On the second day of the hunger strike launched by four Ph.D scholars of University of Hyderabad (UoH), the scholars vowed to continue their struggle till their demands are met. The four scholars from various departments of the university under the banner Raju-Venkatesh Solidarity Committee have demanded the resignation of the vice-chancellor (VC), judicial probe into ‘the institutional murder of M Venkatesh’ and punishment for the guilty. On Satruday evening, students of the committee burnt an effigy of the vice-chancellor condemning his actions.

M Venkatesh, who was pursuing Ph.D at the Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials (ACRHEM) committed suicide on the night of November 24 by allegedly consuming a poisonous substance.

Prabahakar, one of the agitators, informed that four teaching, non-teaching and officers’ associations will join the protest.
