Illegal Liquor Traders Attack Excise Staff

A group of Excise officials who were raiding ilicit liquor units at Singareni colony in Saidabad on Tuesday morning came under attack from a mob of over 100 people.

A group of Excise officials who were raiding ilicit liquor units at Singareni colony in Saidabad on Tuesday morning came under attack from a mob of over 100 people.

An Excise sub-inspector and a constable sustained injuries as the assaulters, including women, threw chilli powder and pelted bricks at the officers.

According to Saidabad police, a team of Saroornagar excise special squad had caught an illicit liquor seller Venkatramulu and his associate and recovered ID liquor from them.

It is learnt that the excise officials have taken three women attackers into custody from the spot. Excise officials filed a complaint against the gang with Saidabad police.

A case against the assaulters under IPC Section 353 (for assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 506 (criminal intimidation), 332 ( Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) has been registered.
