APSHB officer owns 11 homes, 13 plots

ACB officials seize 1.45 kg gold and 5 kg silver from her residence

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday unearthed disproportionate assets worth several crores of rupees, belonging to AP State Housing Board (APSHB) estate officer D Jayalakshmi.

Simultaneous searches at the the 56-year-old official’s residence and other places revealed that she owned six houses, five flats, and 13 house plots in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. She was also in possession of 1.45 kg of gold, 5 kg of silver, and a Santro car.

ACB sources said Jayalakshmi’s possessions included independent houses at AS Rao Nagar, Maruthi Nagar near ECIL, Nagaram and Rajendernagar, flats in and near Singapore Township, and Maruthi Nagar, and open plots at Nagaram, Qutubullapur, Patancheru and Kukkatpally. Jayalakshmi is the wife of late D Venkateswar Rao and lives in AS Rao Nagar, ECIL.

She joined APSHB in 1981 as a junior assistant. Her education ends with high school. The ACB registered cases against her and investigation is on.

TRAPPED

In another case, the ACB sleuths caught E Anandababu (37), senior assistant, CTO, Musheerabad circle, for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 on July 22.

The bribe amount was recovered and Anandababu was arrested and produced before a special judge for ACB cases, according to an official release.
