Ragpicker injured in minor explosion

A 22-year-old ragpicker was hospitalised with minor burns after a small box that he tried to open exploded at Subashnagar in Petbasheerabad police station limits on Friday.

The box, which contained chemical material, was reportedly abandoned by a pharma company.

Tension prevailed among residents when the explosion took place as they suspected it to be another terror bast.

At around 11 am, Koteswar Rao (22) came to a dustbin near Subashnagar and noticed a box. When he tried to open it by hitting it against a stone, the explosion took place. Rao received minor burns,” said inspector B Janaiah. Cops rushed to the spot after being alerted and conducted searches, and said the chemicals were cause of blast.
