Speeding truck kills 7-year-old girl

A 7-year-old class III student was crushed to death by a truck near firewood shop in Panduranganagar of Rajendranagar police station limits here Sunday.

She was identified as Sony, daughter of Sadonke Amresh, Panduranga Nagar, Attapur, Rajendranagar. Amresh recently moved to the city from Karnataka for their livelihood.

According to the Rajendranagar police, at around 8.30 am, a speeding truck hit Sony and her sister when they were walking on street.

“Both sisters had gone out in the morning and were returning home after finishing their work. After being hit by the truck, Sony suffered severe injuries and died on the spot,” said Rajendranagar inspector S Jayaram.

After being informed by the locals, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The police took driver into custody.

Sony’s father, Amresh, lodged a complaint. The police registered a case under section 304 (A) (negligence driving) and investigation is on.
