Basavatarakam Centre to host Oncology meet

The Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI) will organise a four-day Global Oncology Summit-2013 from March 28 to 31.

Eminent Oncologists Nori Dattatreyudu as well as the faculty from various medical universities and abroad will be participating in the summit that will consist of live workshops, debates, lectures and panel discussions. Former Indian President and eminent scientist APJ Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the conference on March 29.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, BIACH&RI chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna, along with CEO RP Singh, medical director and HoD, department of surgical oncology, T.Subramanyeshwar Rao and HoD, department of medical oncology, BIACH&RI and organising secretary, organising committee, Global Oncology Summit 2013, Senthil Rajappa said that meeting will be held at the Marriott Convention Centre and Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital.

“The programme is an attempt by the medical consultants at BIACH&RI to share their knowledge they have earned over a period of time and also intended to exchange various developments in oncology,” said N Balakrishna.

The first two days will consist of live workshops in minimal access surgery, radiotherapy and molecular biology. The last two days will mark lectures, debates and panel discussions.

The conference will discuss various advances in Gynaec, lung, head and neck, genitourinary (GU) and gastrointestinal (GI) cancers.

Balakrishna explained around 100 renowned faculties from India and across the world would attend the conference.

Subramanyeshwar Rao said some of the big names in oncology including Nori Dattatreyudu from New York,  Tony Mok from Chinese University of Hong Kong, Francesco Grossi from the National Institute for Cancer Research, Genoa, Italy, Jatin Shan and Manjit Bains, both from Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Centre, USA will participate in the summit.
