APSP DSP held for assaulting wife

A deputy superintendent police of seventh battalion of APSP, Karimnagar, was arrested by the Miyapur police here on Wednesday for assaulting his wife and another woman.

K Venkateswarlu was produced before the court and was sent to judicial remand.

According to police, the DSP’s wife, Bhoolakshmi, with the help of a woman’s organisation, caught him in a compromising position with another woman at a house in Hafeezpet.  An argument ensued and in a fit of rage, Venkateswarlu assaulted her and the representative of the woman’s organisation, police said.

Bhoolakshmi approached the Miyapur police and lodged a complaint, based on which cases were registered against Venkateswarlu under Section 354 (assault on women) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Sub-inspector Ch Ramaiah said both husband and wife had quarrelled earlier too, after which a case was registered against Venkateswarlu in Machavaram police station in Vijayawada.
