Birthday boy, 2 more die as bike hits tanker

Omkar, who went to buy a cake, was crushed to death near Uppal

The birthday celebrations of a Class X student turned out to be fatal for him and his friends after the bike on which they were travelling hit an oil tanker near Uppal late Thursday night.

According to police, the birthday boy Omkar, and his friends Harikrishna and Bhagavan Reddy were travelling towards Uppal to purchase a birthday cake, when their bike hit an oil tanker near a bus stop.

Omkar was crushed to death while the other two succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment. All were students of Sri Chaitanya Techno School at Bodduppal.

Uppal SI Ch Chandrasekhar said Omkar had celebrated his birthday at his school on Thursday and after finishing the study hours, his friends forced him to cut another cake. They left for a bakery at Uppal at around 11 pm on Omkar’s Pulsar bike.

Omkar tried to overtake an Indian Oil tanker, lost control of the bike and hit the tanker. Locals alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted Harikrishna and Bhagavan Reddy to a nearby private hospital, where they died while undergoing treatment. Omkar died on the spot.
