46.5 percent vote in Borabanda Ward Poll

About 46.5 percent of the voters have exercised their franchise to the election of 108th ward of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at Borabanda Sunday.

About 46.5 percent of the voters have exercised their franchise to the election of 108th ward of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at Borabanda here Sunday.

The poll was conducted in a peaceful manner without any untoward incident. A few hundred voters, who turned up to the polling stations, found their names missing from the electoral rolls and protested against the polling staff over the issue.

The polling began from 7 am and continued up to 5 pm at the 35 polling stations in the area.

Of the total 27,792 voters in the ward about 12,799 have caste their votes.  The counting of votes will take place on Tuesday at the Sri Guru Gobind Singhji Stadium, Dharam Karam Road in Ameerpet for which all the necessary arrangements have been made by the GHMC.   

Officials told Express that as per the High Court’s direction, the result will not be declared officially. The result will be submitted in a sealed cover to the court.
