A debt ridden man committed suicide by consuming poison at his residence in Gajularamaram here Monday. In his suicide note, Ranga Reddy, a private employee, stated that he was resorting to the extreme step as he was unable to pay his loans.
According to police, the deceased, who hails from Medak, had come to the city to eke out a living. He started taking loans from various persons at high interest rates to meet his lavish lifestyle.
“He consumed poison at around 7.30 am Monday after being threatened by some persons to pay back their money. One of his friends who visited Reddy’s house found him unconscious on his bed,” Jeedimetla sub inspector M Sudhakar said.
Neighbours alerted cops, who shifted the body to Gandhi general hospital for post-mortem.
