2 held for selling liquor on Holi

The Task Force police on Wednesday arrested two persons in connection with selling liquor illegally to customers, here Wednesday. As many as 35 liquor bottles of various brands and Rs 3,100 cash was seized from them.

Police and excise officials had issued notices to all wine shops of twin cities to shut their shops in view of Holi from 6 am on March 26 to 6 am March 28.

With an intention to earn easy money,  J Jagram (45), a resident of Saidabad, and Ch Srinivas (37), a resident of Amberpet, stocked whiskey, brandy and beer bottles and sold the same to costumers at higher prices.

Police seized 26 whiskey bottles of various brands and 21 beer bottles from Jagram while they recovered 9 brandy bottles, two beer bottles and Rs 3,100 cash from Srinivas.
