Fire at ‘police federation office’ in city

Furniture at the the ‘police federation office’ was partially damaged after a minor fire broke out in its premises at Kacheguda police limits here Thursday.

Kacheguda inspector Ch Y Srinivas Kumar said the locals informed cops soon after the fire broke out at 5.30 pm. They immediately doused the fire, which was caused due to short circuit.

The office was set up by suspended head constable Giri Prasad Sarma recently. He named the premises ‘Police Federation Office’ to redress the grievances of the victims harassed by police.

Sarma was suspended from his duties on the charges of corruption.
