Two held for auto driver’s murder

Task Force police on Saturday arrested two persons, including a 20-year-old history-sheeter, who were involved in the brutal murder of an autorickshaw driver. Lethal weapons were also seized from them.

The accused have been identified as Syed Fareed (20), a history- sheeter of Gopalapuram police station, resident of Seethapalmandi and Santosh Mahathi (21), a worker, resident of Ghansmandi, Bhoiguda, Gandhinagar.

Syed and Santosh had murdered an autorickshaw driver, Mudavath Shankar Naik, at an isolated railway quarter behind Mettuguda bus stop.

They tied Shankar’s hands, legs and neck and then beat him up to death.

Upon being questioned, Syed Fareed confessed to his crime that he, along with his associates K Chinna, Aravind and Santosh Mahathi, murdered Shankar, resident of Champapet.

On March 4, Syed, along with his associates met near Secunderabad Railway station and hatched a plan to commit property offences such as extortion and robbery and they needed an auto in order to escape from the place after committing the offence.

Later, they called Shankar Naik near Secunderabad Railway Station, who was Chinna’s friend.

All the accused went to a wine shop near Alpha Hotel and consumed liquor, where Syed Fareed asked Shankar to give him his auto for a few days, but he refused to do so, following which all the accused decided to take away his auto forcibly.

They purchased liquor, ganja and went to an isolated railway quarter beside Mettuguda bus stop with Shankar in his auto and consumed liquor and ganja while the another accused Santosh was sleeping in the auto outside the quarter as he was in fully intoxication condition.

While consuming liquor again Syed Fareed asked the deceased Shankar Naik to give his auto for few days in order to earn money, but the deceased refused bluntly, upon which as per their plan the accused persons Syed Fareed, Chinna, Ravi and Aravind pounced on the deceased, removed his pant, shirt forcibly and tied his legs with pant, hands with a piece of cloth found in the room and tied his shirt around his neck. After killing the victim, the accused fled away with his auto from the spot.
