Comprehensive Transport Plan to Cost City Rs 1.25 L Crore

For implementing the Comprehensive Transportation Plan for Hyderabad Metropolitan Area (CTP)-2041 in a phased manner up to 2041, a whopping Rs 1.25 lakh crore is required.

Nearly Rs 5,000-6,000 crore per year would be required to implement the CTP in the HMR region. The HMDA is studying various options from international cities on how to mobilise the funds for implementing the transportation plan.

As support from Central and state governments and other agencies would be minimal, options such as levying a cess on petrol and diesel, levy on betterment charges, developmental charges, impact fee on citizens, public private partnership (PPP) mode and other options are being studied by a committee for mobilisation of funds for CTP in the long run, HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner, Neerabh Kumar Prasad said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

With the state government approving the draft CTP-2041 and draft Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Master Plan-2031 a few days ago, the HMDA issued a notification inviting objections and suggestions, if any.

Citizens who are interested in submitting objections and suggestions to the two draft plans can send them before January 10 in person or through post addressed to the Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA, Tarnaka, Secunderabad-500007 and also they can email to cts2041@hmada.gov.in or post as comments on the suggestions option given on www.ctshma2011.com.

All the objections and suggestions would be examined thoroughly before finalisation of the plans and same will be forwarded to the state government for final approval.

The draft plans with maps will be displayed at the HMDA Complex, Tarnaka and later at the GHMC head office, APSRTC corporate office and Hyderabad Metro Rail office on all working days between 11.30 am and 4 pm.

The lists of maps that would be displayed for 2041 with statement include Metro rail, Transit Rail, BRTS Plan, MMTS Plan, Integrated Transit Plan Inter city commuter system rail plan, major highway corridors, proposed Transit Oriented Development within ORRs, along ORR,  Urban Nodes, Urban Centres outside ORR and transport network, intersection improvement proposals within and outside GHMC, major intercity passenger bus and rail terminals, major intercity freight, cycle track corridors, local area traffic area management plans and proposed flyovers, etc.

Neerabh Kumar said that the comprehensive long term transport plan for HMR with the help of stakeholders like GHMC, HMR, APSRTC, traffic police with HMDA as nodal agency was prepared by LEA Associates South Pvt Ltd.
