In order to relieve congestion, to maintain smooth flow of traffic and to ensure public safety during Ganesh immersion procession on September 18, some traffic restrictions have been imposed in the city.

In order to relieve congestion, to maintain smooth flow of traffic and to ensure public safety during Ganesh immersion procession on September 18, some traffic restrictions have been imposed in the city.

No traffic other than the procession of idols will be allowed to move on the main procession route between 9 am on September 18 and 8 am on September 19. The traffic restrictions will be extended if the situation so demands.

The main procession of idols starts from Keshavagiri and passes through Aliabad, Nagulchinta, Charminar, Madina, Afzalgunj, MJ Market, Abids, Basheerbagh, Liberty, Upper Tank Bund and NTR Marg. Some smaller  processions will join the main procession at some junctions. The procession from the western side will join the main procession at MJ Market and also at the Secretariat-Telugu Talli statue.

The procession from Secunderabad area passes through RP Road, MG Road,  Karbala Maidan, Kavadiguda, Musheerabad Crossroad, RTC Crossroad, Narayanaguda Crossroad, Himayatnagar Y-Junction and joins the main procession at Liberty. Another stream that comes from the east via Uppal, Ramanthapur, Amberpet, NCC (OU) and Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital will join the above stream at RTC Crossroad.

DIVERSIONS: Movements of vehicles other than those carrying Ganesh idols will be restricted and diverted at many points along the main procession route and at other points adjoining the routes of other tributary processions. Facility to cross from the West to East or vice versa is given only at the Basheerbagh Junction. Commuters are advised to use the Ring Road and Begumpet area to avoid diversions.   All the side roads leading to the main procession route will be barricaded. The main traffic diversion points are :

South: Keshavagiri, Mahaboobnagar Crossroads, Engine Bowli, Nagulchinta, Himmatpura, Hari Bowli, Asra Hopsital, Moghulpura, Lakkad Kote, Madina Crossroad, MJ Bridge,  Dar-ul-Shifa, City College.

East: Chanchalguda Jail Crossroad, Moosarambagh, Chaderghat bridge, Salarjung bridge (Shivaji bridge), Afzalgunj, Putlibowli Crossroad, Troop Bazar, Jambagh Crossroad, Andhra Bank Koti,

West: Tope Khana Mosque, Alaska Hotel Junction, Osmangunj, Sanker Bagh and Seena Hotel, Ajantha Gate near Exhibition Grounds, Abkari Lane, Taj Island, Barthan Bazar, AR Petrol Pump at KLK Building,

Central: Chapel Road entry, Gadwal Centre at GPO, Shalimar Theatre, Gunfoundry, Skyline Road entry, Bharat Scouts & Guides Junction in Domalaguda, Kalanjali at Police Control Room, Liberty Junction, GHMC office Y junction, BRK Bhavan junction near Telugu Thalli Junction, Iqbal Minar, Ravindra Bharathi, Dwaraka Hotel Junction, Khairatabad Junction (Visweswaraiah Statue), Children’s Park, Viceroy Hotel junction, Kavadiguda Junction, Katta Maisamma Temple at Lower Tank Bund, Indira Park Junction

North: Traffic will not be allowed to enter Necklace Road and Upper Tank Bund from Karbala Maidan, Buddha Bhavan, Sailing Club, Nallagutta Junction. The traffic will be diverted at the following points from 6 am on September 18 to 8 on September 19: CTO, YMCA, Paradise Crossroads, Patny Crossroads, Bata Crossroads, Adavaiah Crossroads, Ghansmandi Crossroads.

PARKING: People going to watch Ganesh immersion in the Hussainsagar  have to park their vehicles in the following notified places and proceed on foot to the places of immersion:

Institute of Engineers at Khairatabad Junction, MMTS station at Khairatabad, Anand Nagar Colony to RR Dist ZP office, backside of Buddha Bhavan, Goseva Sadan, Lower Tank Bund, Katta Maisamma Temple, NTR Stadium, Nizam College, Public Gardens.

Trucks: After immersion on the NTR Marg, empty trucks/lorries should proceed to their destination via Necklace Rotary, Khairatabad flyover, VV statue, KCP and onwards. They will be not allowed to return towards Telugu Talli statue or Mint Compound road.

After immersion on the Upper Tank Bund, empty trucks/lorries should proceed towards Children’s Park, DBR Mills, Kavadiguda, Musheerabad.  No lorry shall go through the Bible House rail overbridge .

Inter-state and inter-district lorries will not be allowed to enter the city on the intervening night of September 18/19.  Their movement will be terminated on the outskirts. 

RTC Buses: When the procession reaches its peak, the RTC bBuses will not be allowed beyond the following junctions towards Hussainsagar Lake: Masab Tank (Mehdipatnam buses); VV Statue (Kukatpally buses); CTO, Plaza, SBH, Clock Tower, Chilkalguda Crossroad (Secunderabad buses).

Ramanthapur TV studio, Gaddiannaram, Chaderghat (Dilsuknagar buses); Danamma Huts (Rajendranagar buses); IS Sadan (Midhani buses); YMCA Narayanaguda (Inter-city special buses); Tarnaka (No RTC bus shall be allowed beyond Tarnaka Junction towards Jamai Osmania flyover).
