Black Magic Cause for Girl's Abandonment?

HYDERABAD: Was the baby girl, who was found abandoned at a graveyard in Meerpet on Sunday, brought there for black magic? The Meerpet police suspect so.

The Cyberabad police, during the preliminary probe, learnt that it was the second incident of a baby girl being abandoned at a graveyard. Locals had found another girl at the same place a few days ago who is now being raised by an infertile couple.

Meerpet inspector P Shanker Yadav and his team, who are investigating the case, told Express that the next step in the probe will be to establish if the baby was abandoned at the graveyard for black magic or her parents left her there as they felt she was a burden on them.

“When we rescued the gown-clad infant, she was wearing an amulet around her neck, ankles and wrists. Though there are no specific leads, we will investigate the case in the black magic angle,” he said. The abandoned girl, who is now under the care of a child protection centre, has been crying since last night. However, the staff have managed to feed the victim.

A few couples, who are suffering from infertility, made a beeline at the Meerpet police station requesting the police to hand over the girl to them. The police, however, denied stating that they did not have the right to hand over custody. A team of police officials on Monday visited various hospitals in Meerpet, Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar, Dilsukhnagar and Chaitanyapuri and questioned doctors in connection with the incident. A message has been sent to all police stations in Hyderabad and Cyberabad to find the victim’s parents.

It may be recalled that a baby girl was found abandoned at a graveyard at Subhodaya Colony in Meerpet on Sunday. Locals, who noticed the crying baby, alerted the police who immediately shifted her to a child protection centre.
