The first air conditioned double decker bi-weekly superfast express train between Kacheguda-Guntur and Kacheguda-Tirupati will be introduced from May 13.
The SCR will introduce these two new train services as announced in the interim railway budget. The maiden service of the first ever double decker train on the SCR will commence at 05:30 hrs on Tuesday from Kacheguda to Guntur.
The Commissioner for Railway Safety (CRS) has given clearance for running of these double decker train services after successful completion of the trial runs of the train recently.
SCR general manager PK Srivastava has said that these trains were being introduced to meet the summer rush.
These trains will consists of 10 double decker AC chair cars and two power cars. Advance reservations for these trains will commence at 8 a.m. from Friday onwards. Kacheguda-Guntur AC bi-weekly double decker superfast express will depart from Kacheguda at 05:30 hrs every Tuesday and Friday and arrive in Guntur at 10:40 hrs.
In the return direction, it will depart from Guntur at 12:45 hrs every Tuesday and Friday and arrive in Kacheguda at 17:55 hrs.
Kacheguda-Tirupati AC bi-weekly double decker superfast express will depart from Kacheguda at 06:45 hrs every Wednesday and Saturday and arrive in Tirupati at 18:15 hrs. In the return direction, it will depart from Tirupati at 05:45 hrs every Thursday and Sunday and arrive in Kacheguda at 17:15 hrs. Very Early Smoke/Fire Detection with Alarm System is being introduced in the double decker train for the first time in the Indian Railways.
