Ghatkesar-Pedda Amberpet ORR Stretch Opens

HYDERABAD: The main carriageway of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) from Pedda Amberpet to Ghatkesar having a length of 14 km was opened to traffic on Wednesday. With the opening of this stretch, the traffic coming from Warangal and proceeding towards Vijayawada and vice versa can avoid passing through the city, thereby reducing the  congestion at LB Nagar and Uppals junctions to a large extent.

Apart from this, people from Ghatkesar can use this stretch of the ORR to go Shamshabad airport. This stretch of the ORR, built at a cost of `300 crore is executed by NCC Limited. The consultants for this project are Nippon Koei- Aarvee Associates.

The stretch was completed more than six months ago by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and waiting for inauguration by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

With the opening of this stretch, about 138 km stretch of ORR is open to public. The total stretch of ORR is about 158 km and is being laid with funds from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
