Prohibitory Orders in City for Council Elections

HYDERABAD: In order to maintain peace during polling in the twin cities on March 22 for election to the Telangana Legislative Council from the Graduates constituency, the city police issued prohibitory orders which shall be in force with effect from 5 pm on March 21 till 6 am on March 23.

Police prohibited assembly of persons and any kind of processions, prohibited carrying of sticks either with or without flags, lathis, fire arms, or any other weapons which can be used as weapons for offence or defence by persons in processions, big gathering or meetings within a radius of one KM from the polling stations.

Police also prohibited erection of temporary structures like shamianas, pandals, etc on thoroughfares, in public places and all other places where public throng; prohibited use of mikes/public address system by anybody in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Police also prohibited playing music, singing or making speeches or broadcasting through or speakers of any other instruments, prohibited making a speech, gesture or mimetic representation, exhibition or dissemination of pictures, symbols, placards or any other thing which is likely to create religious animosity or hatred between communities or individuals or is likely to bring about commission of an offence or disturbance or contempt of the law or of a lawful authority. Any person violating the above shall be liable for prosecution.
