HYDERABAD: City police commissioner M Mahendar Reddy issued orders on Tuesday for closure of IML wine/toddy shops, bars attached to restaurants and military canteens situated within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad from 5 pm on March 21 to 6 am on March 23 in view of elections to the Telangana Legislative Council from the Graduates constituency to be held on March 22.
Prohibitory orders have been issued against assembly of five or more persons within a radius of 200 metres from the polling stations within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on March 22 in connection with elections to the Telangana Legislative Council in respect of Graduates constituencies.
This order will remain in force from 6 am on March 22 to 6am on March 23. The public is hereby informed that any person violating the above orders shall be liable for prosecution under Section 144 Cr.PC.
Public is prohibited from holding any public meeting, assembling in five or more persons; carrying the fire arms, banners, placards, lathis, spears, swords, sticks, or shouting of slogans; making of speeches, etc; and also any processions and demonstration; and picketing or dharnas within in the area known as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Secretariats in the limits of Saifabad police station, together with the offices located within the premises of the Telangana and AP Secretariats including the gates leading to the offices and also areas falling up to a distance of 500 metres from Secretariat building perimeter.
This order remains in force from 6 am on March 19 and shall remain in force for a period of two months i.e. upto 6 am on May 18, unless withdrawn earlier. Any person violating the order shall be liable for punishment under section 188 of the Indian Penal code and as per the provisions of Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli.
