Redesign the Bathroom

HYDERABAD: Space today is at a premium for almost all builders. This unfortunately has led to the gradual  phasing out of amenities which only a few years earlier were considered as standard in every home.

While one of these amenities is the balcony, the other is the bathtub. One trick most often used by interior designers when faced with an unwavering demand for a bathtub in a small bathroom is to combine the shower area and the bathtub into one whole.

This can save a lot of space and a glass partition can divide the two zones. A hand shower mounted at a high angle to act like a normal shower head also achieves the tub-shower mix perfectly.

Other tips to redoing the bathroom in your house to accommodate a bath tub include using the corners.

While you might have to rework the placement of other elements like the sink and commode, if you can move the plumbing around, make sure to shift them to the corner in order to free up more space on the walls.

Another thing to keep in mind is that while you may not always be able to fit a standard size tub into the bath room, you can always look at smaller options like soak tubs which are considerably shorter but deeper.

You can combine the soak tub with a shower option to save more space. Installing a bathtub can make an already small bathroom look even smaller.

To combat this, you can consider wall hanging fixtures for the commode as well as the use of clear glass instead of an opaque shower curtain. Using the same tile pattern across the whole room also gives a sense of space and makes the room seem larger. If you have been thinking of buying a bathtub but were unsure if it would fit in your bathroom, give it a try since there are several models available today to fit all sizes and budgets.
