We can Train other Nations in Tiger Conservation: Javadekar

HYDERABAD: India is ready to impart training and even donate the big cats to other countries as part of efforts for the conservation of the endangered species, Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar said here on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after visiting Forest Academy in Dulapally, Javadekar said that the measures so far taken to preserve the endangered tiger population yielded good results. He said that government would give special training to personnel concerned in protecting the tiger population. ‘’We can even give the technology and the capacity building to other countries who want to conserve tigers,’’ he said.He further said the Central government proposed amendments to five Central Acts related to environment.

He said that environment laws enacted between 1971 and 1986 would be amended after taking the inputs from various State governments.

The Acts proposed to be amended are: The Forest (Conservation) Act 1980, Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, Environment (Protection) Act 1986, Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981.

Javadekar said the  amendments were proposed to make the existing laws more environment-friendly.
