'Don't Blame Anuskha for World Cup Loss' formance:Mirza

HYDERABAD: Film actress Dia Mirza condemned the act of shaming actress Anushka Sharma for Virat Kohli’s disappointing performance in the World Cup semifinal. “It is very unfair. How is she responsible for India’s debacle in the World Cup?,” she questioned.

The actress-turned-producer was in the city on Saturday to address a gathering hosted by the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), where she shared her experiences on being the only daughter of divorced parents, modeling assignments and her tryst with social activism.

‘The greatest gift a woman can ever get is her financial independence and I understood that at a very young age’, expressed the Hyderabadi actress. “I started off as a marketing executive for a media company named Dr. Neeraj’s Multimedia Studio,” she recollected, further adding, “at the age of 16, I was juggling between my studies and work, only because I understood the importance of being independent.”

The actress also voiced her opinion on gender discrimination, one of the most debated topics in the country. “I was lucky enough not to experience any sort of discrimination. Neither my family nor my school ever discriminated girls from boys and that made a huge impact in my life. All it does is demotivate the person from exercising her potential,” she opined.

The actress hinted on producing a Telugu film in the near future but refused to disclose further details about the project.
