HYDERABAD: Has India ever hosted the Olympic Games? About 48 percent of the people in a survey answered yes, and even stating that they were held in New Delhi. In fact, the only international sporting event held in India was the 2010 Commonwealth Games!
This shocking and interesting insight was revealed in a survey called ‘Namak ke Waastey’, conducted in July 2016, commissioned and executed by Tata Salt.
As India sends its largest-ever delegation to the Rio Olympics 2016, in an effort to garner mass support for Indian athletes, the salt brand has tied up with the Indian Olympics Association (IOA) as a sponsor. The lighthearted assessment of the nation’s knowledge of the Olympics had more such interesting insights.
The survey was conducted across the country through an online study and received responses from 1,185 people from various channels, including social networking sites. The campaign is aimed at catalysing conversations and generating support for Indian Olympians headed to Rio.
