HYDERABAD: On Saturday afternoon, at around 2 pm, the fashion fervour reached a feverish pitch in Hyderabad as ace couturier Manish Malhotra arrived at Kamini Saraf’s Banjara Hills boutique, Angasutra.

When we asked the designer, how he would describe a ‘Manish Malhotra bride,’  he said, “I would describe her as someone who is confident -- traditional, yet modern in a way.”

Talking about his collection and what people can expect to find in it, Manish adds, “The collection is so Indian, yet has a modernity to it. I have used a lot of global motifs and trails. My collection is about glamour and sparkle. I want people who wear my clothes to feel happy.” He was here to cater to the brides-to-be and give them their dream apparel for the wedding day.

Going by his much-talked about virtual reality-based show a few days ago at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 2016, in Mumbai, he indeed had a lot to offer. His opulent bridal collection comprised sarees paired with intricately woven crop tops, jackets, corsets and so on along with tunics with palazzo for the bride’s entourage.

This time at LFW, we saw a lot of stereotypes being broken with faux unibrows, freckles , girls embracing their natural skin tone, sending out a strong body positive message.  We ask the ace designer his thoughts about it. Manish does not think too much of this trend. He says, “I don’t think we need to make a big thing about all these things. When you are trying to make a statement out of it,  I think it is a fad.”
