HYDERABAD: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Saturday carried out raids on the Golconda post office in Hyderabad and found that irregularities to the tune of Rs 1.3 crore had been carried out there. The officials also found out that the irregularities took place based on the directions of Sudheer Babu, Senior Superintendent of Post offices, Hyderabad City Division.

Sudheer is allegedly the prime accused in irregularities at various post offices in the city during exchanging of demonetised notes.

Post demonetisation, Sudheer had allegedly handed over a bag full of Rs 2,000 notes to Ravi Teja, office assistant, with instructions to deliver the same to Golconda post office staff facilitating exchange of old notes.

“Hours after Ravi handed over the bag, Sudheer called Golconda postal officer and directed the officer to acknowledge the receipt of remittance as mentioned in the cash memo and return the amount of worth Rs 1.3 crore to him as remittance.”
“Other old notes should be shown to have been exchanged with general public,” CBI sources said.
